Evaluating the YP

Times change. People change. Cultures change. What was in step yesterday is out of step today. To ensure your NSO stays in touch with the young people and the communities it serves, it is critical that your NSO’s Youth Programme is regularly reviewed and evaluated as to its relevance.

Evaluation is a systematic procedure that aims to understand and diagnose the relevance of your Youth Programme within the scope of your NSO. It provides your NSO with reliable and valid data, analyses, and interpretations that will give an accurate idea of the situation and status of its Youth Programme. Once you have all the facts, you can then decide if your Youth Programme still responds to the needs and interests of the children, adolescents, and young people to whom it is addressed and whether there is a relationship between the objectives you pursue as an NSO and some of the social, economic, political, and cultural demands of the society you serve.

This chapter offers guidelines to evaluate your NSO’s Youth Programme and decide if it needs to be reviewed.
